The North Kansas City Barbeque was started 20 years ago as an added attraction to the 75 th year celebration for the city. Reflecting back on how the whole contest fit in “ Caboose Park ” a total of 30 teams is amazing. Teams were small with no fancy equipment just bullet & kettle cookers, lawn chairs, and a table. Al Lawson, Donna McClure, Paul Kirk and “The Rib Doctor” are just a few of many cookers who have supported our event and continue to do so to this day. Our contest has seen many changes, the size for one, 90 plus teams last year, a date change from June to March and the marring of events with Snake Saturday, America 's premier Irish festival.
